On a sunny Saturday July morning an intrepid group of branch members set off south using the Stagecoach X7 bus to the scenic coastal village of Johnshaven. Disembarking on the coastal road followed by a steep walk we arrived at our first destination.
After a wander round the village taking in the harbour and ‘Lobster Shop’ we headed for ‘The Anchor Hotel’ and a welcoming pint of ‘Old Speckled Hen’ in the sunny beer garden.

Next was a pleasant ramble along the coastal path, just over an hours walk to the welcoming Harbour Bar in Gourdon. The weather stayed warm and we managed to get a table in the sun. Two cask beers were available: Fierce ‘Fierce IPA’ and Brew Toon ‘Sails and Ales’. After a couple of pints, good conversation and a hearty lunch we jumped back on the local 107 bus which picks up near the harbour, avoiding the hefty hike up to the main road. There was enough time for a stop in Stonehaven at the Marine Hotel and The Ship Inn.

All in all a very pleasant day. Any member is welcome to join our trips and socials, see website for details.
