Absent Friends 2022

Symbol of loss

In January 2022 we learned of the passing of two long standing members of the Aberdeen Branch, both stalwarts of the Great Grampian Beer Festival.

Mike Burton was a larger-than-life character who made everyone welcome. He worked like a trojan and could never be idle, while always trying to work smarter not harder. He would do the jobs that no-one else wanted. He could talk to anyone about anything and always had a plethora of stories.

Steve Kinnaird was a keen home brewer, photographer and beer connoisseur. He travelled with his camper van to visit interesting country pubs. He regularly worked at the Aberdeen Beer Festival in both the McClymont Hall and at Pittodrie, working at both bar and products stands.

In May 2022 we also learned of the passing of Alan Jardine. Alan was part of the "dream team" that manned the door at the Aberdeen beer festival, ensuring a friendly welcome and efficient entry to the venue. Latterly Alan became the festival treasurer, a role which he filled diligently and responsibly.

Guys, you were all a right good blether and it was a pleasure to be in your company. You are sorely missed.
