Windswept Beer Tasting

An excellent virtual Beer Tasting of 6 Windswept Beers took place on Wednesday 5th May at 8pm. 12 branch members congregated online in the company of our host, the Windswept Tap Room manager Andrew Marshall. Andrew took us through the history of the brewery and the inspirations and ingredients in a range of beers. Good banter made it a lot of fun and we are now aware of the differences between Pilsner, Kolsch and Scottish Lager.

The beers were quaffed in this order:

  • Aurora 3.8% light ale
  • Lighthouse 4.7% kolsch style lager
  • Witch Pricker 4.2% dark chocolate stout
  • Coffee Porter 5.6% guess
  • Velo 5.4% Belgian style amber ale
  • Wolf 6% strong & dark

After the event we had an informal competition to rank the beers in order of popularity. The dark side seemed to win the day, although Witch Pricker didn't make it a complete sweep for the stouts and porter.

  1. Wolf (not surprising as a beer that has won many CAMRA and SIBA awards)
  2. Coffee Porter
  3. Lighthouse
  4. Aurora
  5. Witch Pricker
  6. Velo

No individual voter had them in this order

Cost worked out at £23-50 each

Thanks to Richard Jones for organising a fun evening
