Kings Bar (Aberdeen)

A photo on the wall shows the bar counter and gantry have been there years, possibly since the 1930s. It has a mirrored five-bay gantry with two glass-fronted cabinets and a clock on top.

Krakatoa (Aberdeen)

Historic harbour-side Dive Bar, in recent years re-branded as Krakatoa, but which will always be the Moorings to its many regulars. It changes character from friendly laid-back local to raucous rock bar on weekend evenings, when there may be a cover charge after 8.45.

Lairhillock (Portlethen)

This former coaching house is a rambling building in attractive open countryside. Family-run Inn has a traditional, wood-paneled bar warmed by a large log fire in winter, and a lounge with a centrally located open fireplace and a large conservatory area, popular for dining.

Langdykes (Aberdeen)

Estate bar in Cove with no real ale. Darts played.

Legends Sports Bar (Aberdeen)

Six pool tables and four dart boards in a modern contemporary setting. No real ale.

Lemon Tree (Aberdeen)

An Arts venue which has occasionally had real ale in the past. Popular on Sunday lunchtimes with their jazz sessions and many and varied music performances can be attended. Play, Pie and a Pint performances. Opening ours will vary depending on arts diary. Keg beer range varies.

Ma Cameron's (Aberdeen)

Known simply as Ma's, this is one of Aberdeen's oldest pubs. It has a re-furbished snug bar (October 2015) with serving hatch to adjoining original bar (no longer has any ale pumps, unfortunately). There is a modern, expansive lounge where meals are served.

Macbeth Arms (Lumphanan, Banchory)

A small country pub/hotel with friendly local atmosphere where you can find a pool table and darts.

Mains of Scotstown (Aberdeen)

Conversion of a large farm steading into two bars one of which is mainly the restaurant and the other with large projection screen and TVs with pool and darts at far end. Real ale no longer available.

Malones (Aberdeen)

Irish themed bar just off Market Street, close to Maritime Museum. Formerly the Drift Inn.

Market Arms (Banff)

This fine building is one of the oldest in historic Banff, dating back to 1585. It is worth stepping out the back for a look at the courtyard, which retains many original features. The long public bar has several fine samples of historic brewery and distillery mirrors.

Mash Tun (Aberlour)

A busy traditional bar promoted as a whisky bar, being busy during whisky festivals and Aberlour Games weekend. It has the only full collection of Glenfarclas whisky in the world and also more than 100 other malts. Serves one beer from Cairngorm and sometimes WooHa but only one in winter.

Masons Arms (Rosehearty, Fraserburgh)
