Beer at Platform 22

Platform 22 is a small, family run & licenced coffee house in the pretty Deeside village of Torphins. It is also home to a nano brewery making a range of beers which are bottled (by David) on the premises. They are available to sit in or take-away.

• Orange Pale Ale, 4.5%abv ~ A light coloured ale made using only pale ale malt, mildly hopped with East Kent Goldings and with a hint of orange zest as a top note.
• Ordinary Bitter, 4.3%abv ~ A traditional English beer made with pale & wheat malts with a pinch of chocolate malt to give a russet coloured ale bittered with Pacific Gem and East Kent Golding hops.
• Tafelbier, 2.5%abv ~ A bright refreshing low-alcohol ale brewed in the Belgian style known as Tafelbier (Table Beer) serve it cold with a light lunch or picnic.
• Porter, 5.5%abv ~ A rich tan coloured ale flavored with Green Bullet & East Kent Golding hops. It is slightly sweet, only lightly carbonated resulting in a smooth and mellow mouth feel.
• Scottish 70/-, 4.1%abv ~ a strong Scottish 70 Shilling ale (70/-), this is a traditional style brown ale with low hop content allowing flavours of malt, caramel and a touch of smokiness to stand out.
• Dubbel, 7.4%abv ~ A style of ale developed by Belgian Trappist monks in the mid 1800s. It has a subtle bitterness with a conspicuous fruit & malt flavour and good body.
• Kellerbier, 6.2%abv ~ A German style “cellar beer” served as a per-dinner appetite stimulant. Amber in colour it is highly flavoured with aromatic Saaz & Hallertauer Hersbrucker hops.
• Oat Malt Stout, 4.2%abv ~ Brewed with over 20% of oat malt in the mash this is a “brown stout” & the resulting deep amber ale has a smooth mouth-feel, light flavour and a creamy head.
