Branch Pubs of the Year 2024

Pubs of the Year

The voting forms were issued in January, and all branch members were given the opportunity to express support for their favourite pubs. Our adjudicator collated all the votes received from local members. and factored in the information submitted by visitors to our region from the national beer scoring system. The troops gathered expectantly in the snug at Ma Camerons on Saturday 17th February to find out what the membership had decided.

And the results are in:

  • City Pub Of the Year: Globe Inn, North Silver Street
  • Shire Pub of the Year: Redgarth in Oldmeldrum
  • Island Pub of the Year: Helgi's in Kirkwall
  • Club of the Year: Ravenswood in Banchory

And (drum roll)

The overall Pub of the Year, going forward to represent our region in national competition is the Globe Inn.

After the meeting we were faced with a dilemma: Should we adjourn to the Globe Inn to celebrate it's success, or perhaps go to the Queen Vic where the Beer of The Year was known to be on the tap? Or, given the recent demise of Windswept Brewery, should we head to Krakatoa for the what might be the final casks of Wolf and Hurricane? Of course these options are not mutually exclusive andit made for interesting wander ...
