Queen Vic (Aberdeen)

One room lounge bar slightly off the beaten track in a converted former opticians/ baker’s shop in the highly populated, tenement flatted area of Rosemount. Sporting events shown from time to time so may be extremely busy and noisy. As well as four cask ales, also sells an extensive range of bottled beers.

Prince of Wales (Aberdeen)

One of the oldest bars in Aberdeen, the Prince of Wales has possibly the longest bar counter in the city, a friendly atmosphere and a large following of regulars. It was refurbished in late 2016 and is listed in Scotland's True Heritage Pubs. It offers up to eight ales - a varied selection of ales from mostly Scottish breweries plus occasional English ales and usually at least two from the Greene King/Belhaven stable.

As of lifting of Covid restrictions on Monday 9th August, only 4 ales available and may close earlier than allowed until trade picks up.

Old Blackfriars (Aberdeen)

On the cobbled Castlegate, in the historic centre of the city, this historic pub is situated in a pedestrian area which used to hold public executions. Opposite the Tollbooth, Old Blackfriars is an atmospheric pub having old pews and stained glass and was refurbished in Autumn 2012. From the split-level upper area food and ales may be ordered from the lower section bar. Three rotating guest beers supplement the Belhaven/Greene King range.

Number 10 (Aberdeen)

Ten minutes walk from the West End, this cellar bar was re-opened in October 2015 after refurbishment including opening up into Number 9 next door as a smart restaurant. There are two seated areas on the right and left as you come in with several TV screens showing sports. There is a bar along the back wall with the four handpumps.

McGinty's Meal an' Ale (Aberdeen)

Large pub with a distinctly Scottish theme. Named after the Bothy Ballad, McGintys Meal 'n' Ale whaur the pig went on the spree! Serves up to 3 ales from Caledonian and Inveralmond. There is a balcony area which can provide an element of peacefulness whilst games are shown on the many TV screens. Between the main entrance and the main bar area there are a number of booths along the corridor; cosy seating areas are also at the back of the pub, beyond the bar.

Mariner Hotel (Aberdeen)

Hotel Close: Post Covid-19: Planning permission sought to convert to residential.

Located in an affluent residential area to the west of the city centre, this wood-panelled front bar has a nautical theme. Most of the area is laid to table with a few bar stools giving it a pub feel. Up to 2 changing beers.

Ma Cameron's (Aberdeen)

Known simply as Ma's, this is one of Aberdeen's oldest pubs. It has a re-furbished snug bar (October 2015) with serving hatch to adjoining original bar (no longer has any ale pumps, unfortunately). There is a modern, expansive lounge where meals are served. There are up to 4 handpumps usually selling one guest and beer from the Greene King/Belhaven range. Roof terrace beer garden open in the summer months.

Illicit Still (Aberdeen)

The bar has not re-opened since the Covid-19 lockdown.

Formerly the Bond Bar, built below the original Bond Bar which closed in the mid 70s, this pub re-introduced Real Ale in 2012. It is a downstairs bar with many different areas to sup your ales. The main entrance is on Broad Street and there is also an entrance from the Netherkirkgate. For some time had no ale on sale but has recently started selling a single house ale which is believed to be Stewarts 80/-.

Howff (Aberdeen)

A small, friendly basement bar situated in the heart of the city centre at the west end of Union Street. It is easy to find, look out for the bandsman clock above the now, sadly, closed Bruce Millers music store.

Hop and Anchor (Aberdeen)

This pub has not reopened after the Covid-19 lockdown.

Once a church, then a warehouse for ripening bananas, the premises were converted to a Draft House and opened on 8th March 2019. Committed to stocking two cask ales, which are served on gravity. At least one of the cask ales is always competitively priced. lt also serves many keg beers and excellent pub grub. Upper balcony is spacious with original wooden panelling roof.
