Ideally located at the Albert Hotel in the centre of town, the Bothy is handy for shops, buses and ferries to the outer isles. Busy in the early evening after work, it is also a lively part of the night scene at weekends.
The Mainland Beer of Year was awarded to Cromarty Happy Chappy and the Island Beer of the Year was awarded to Swannay Orkney Best.
No Award due to covid-19
This year the branch elected not to nominate both a mainland and island Beer of the Year, and chose only one overall winner. Congratulations to Orkney Brewery and the beer Island Life for being awarded the branch Beer of the Year 2022.

Everything you expect from a BrewDog pub. Situated in the former Mitchell's Dairy Restaurant, in the middle of the town next to the Town Hall.
A small but typical BrewDog pub with decoration featuring garish murals, a couple of booth seating areas and the rest is tables and chairs.
Originally in an industrial unit in Fraserburgh, the brewery complex and the DogTap are situated on the outskirts of Ellon. As well as its now huge range of beers, its first beer, Punk IPA, it now also produces gin, whisky and other spirits.
A spacious ground level bar located in the old Athenaeum building with plenty of bench seating and tables with 22 lines focusing on Scottish craft beer, worldwide guest beers and two live beer lines.
Based on an industrial estate to the east of the town lying in the shadow of the shiny brewery decorated in the Brewdog usual trademark industrial chic. Beer range varies. Food alternates from pizza, mezze, tapas and platters. Pre-booked tours available.
